P2
Poplar 2
orte and piano, like the keys on a pianoforte; that’s how this “appaloosa” plays. It’s Luca Caserini’s drum set: it’s rigorously hand-painted, it’s black and white, but it’s rock! Just for once, we resisted Respighi’s tendency to choose natural finishes for its handmade drum sets; we decided to go for a daring, different look. But of course, “deep down”, the shells of that drum set are made using the segmented technique according to the Respighi tradition.
Poplar
We wanted to make sure that this drum set had a rich range of low frequencies, so we chose poplar. It’s lightwood, but thanks to the segmented construction technique, there’s no loss of volume or attack. The entirely hand painted finish leaves unique stains on each shell making this drum set totally inimitable.
The sound
Warm, deep well-defined sounds that are good for a rock/fusion context. The 22” kick drum is incredibly dynamic and responds well even at extremely low volumes. Playing loud really brings out its presence. That’s when you can hear the true spirit of this instrument. There are two floor toms and two toms. It’s a drum set with an authentic arsenal of sound.
