hat you see here is the non-catalogue of handmade, acoustic drum sets produced by Respighi Drums in recent years. We call it a non-catalogue because it’s actually an array of unique pieces. It’s not a list of complete acoustic drum set models you can choose from and order. It’s rather more a portfolio or, if you like, evidence of the work we have done. Because Respighi, like Paganini, “doesn’t repeat”. I see every drum set as unique, the result of a path I’ve discovered with my customer. A path that leads to the creation of a made-to-measure instrument by identifying technical specs, aesthetic choices, and tastes in sound. Besides, making an acoustic drum set depends on the choice of wood; you can’t leave that aside. It’s often the patterns created by grain and knots in the wood that lead to inspiration and choices; suggesting ideas and culminating in unrepeatable results.

So when one of Respighi Drums’ customers buys a handmade drum set, they’re also buying what comes before and what comes after. Before there is the design phase; after there is assistance. The relationship between musician and manufacturer doesn’t end with the sale; it carries on. That’s something that doesn’t exist when you buy a factory-made drum set in a shop.
