aturally, the sinister six includes the drummer. This aggressive looking set consists of 5 mahogany pieces. What is unusual about it are the little-used sizes of the toms and floor tom: 11”, 13” and 15”. An “odd” way to stand out from the more classic, “even” combinations.
The infernal “pentagram” graphic was chosen and created by Respighi Drums following specifications supplied by the customer.

Mahogany: it’s not all the same
We decided to use two subspecies of different woods to make this set. They are sold under the names of sapelli mahogany and khaya mahogany. The difference between the two is their density and consequently their weight. We used the lighter of the two, khaya, to build the toms and the floor tom. The kick drum was made of sapelli. We did this because, in our experience, it allows us to get the performance in terms of sound that we were looking for from each piece.
After all, that’s one of the many ways that a handmade, personalized instrument stands out.
