Irish Black
IN A WORD (OR TWO)
imply mahogany. A transparent dark finish, a double kick drum with two white drumheads framed by black ash hoops. All this gives the Irish Black that toasted, slightly bitter taste of good pint of Guinness.

NOTES & CURIOSITIES
The Magtrioska system
All the shells were made using the Respighi Drums Magtrioska system. This involves cutting some of the shells in half. They are then held together by powerful, cylindrical magnets placed all around the circumference of the shell. This makes it possible to transport the instrument as follows:
- The 12” tom goes inside the 16” floor tom, which fits in the 22” kick drum;
- The 14” floor tom goes inside the 20” kick drum;
- That leaves the 14” snare.
It’s possible to transport a six-piece set with double kick drum using only three cases and taking up the space of two kick drums and a snare.
That’s undoubtedly quite an advantage.
Double kick drum, different diameters
We don’t often get asked for a double kick drum. In this specific case, the reason is far more functional that it first might seem. The two drums have different diameters to increase creative potential: it’s possible to have different tone and sound in the same piece of music, simply by choosing which one to play at any given time.
