Poplar Root and Resin
This drum set brings together the present and the past: it’s made of poplar root and fluorescent resin, as if it were something out of Blade Runner.
The small size of the shells completes the picture: a 16” kick drum and a 13” snare. It has a minimal, precise and light sound designed for jazz, but is surprisingly at ease when pushed harder.
Wood
As with other Respighi drum sets, poplar root and the segmented technique rule the roost again. But this time the root wood is shot through with resin that glows in the dark: an original touch that gives a brand-new look to an instrument that would otherwise seem vintage.
The Sound
Despite the small size of the shells, as its appearance shows this poplar root and fluorescent resin drum set doesn’t lack character. The sound is warm, controlled, and responds well across the full harmonic range. It was designed for jazz, but with the right drumheads it can be used for other hybrid genres.
