IN A WORD (OR TWO)
his set is minimal, but not minimalist. It’s light, ultra-compact, and with an entirely new idea: the shells of the kick drum and floor tom can be opened. Actually, they’re held together by powerful magnets. This makes it possible to use them to store two of the three toms in this unusual set. It was requested by a special musician, Riccardo Preda, who wanted a drum set that was really easy to transport without sacrificing the quality of sound.

NOTES & CURIOSITIES
The Magtrioska system
All the shells were made using the Respighi Drums Magtrioska system. This involves cutting some of the shells in half. They are then held together by powerful, cylindrical magnets placed all around the circumference of the shell. This makes it possible to transport the instrument as follows:
- The 8” tom goes inside the 13” floor tom;
- The 10” tom goes inside the 16” kick drum;
- That leaves the 8” and 14″ snares.
It’s possible to transport a six-piece set using only three cases.
That’s undoubtedly quite an advantage.
