Alder was consecrated among luthiers by the Fender solid body guitar when it was employed to substitute the more reliable pine used in the early prototypes. It’s light, stable and open. It was the ideal candidate for an instrument that had to have a great, tight sound.
The Sound
This drum set, with its large number of differently tuned toms and just one kick drum, is used for jazz. The toms have only the batter drumhead. Unlike drums with two drumheads, they can be stored one inside another. Since there are so many of them, it makes them easier to transport. The rims are particular too, they make for improved contact with the drumheads and ensure even better tuning.
