Ugly Boy
IN A WORD (OR TWO)
he name of this snare, Ugly Boy, is an attempt to exorcise its majestic grandeur and beauty. We chose heavily grained walnut and made the hardware by hand: a screw at a time, lug after lug. We paid attention to even the tiniest detail and added some black chrome commercially produced hardware. This one of the products we’ve made in recent years that we care most about.

Born of necessity
The “Elegance” series represents Respighi Drums’ products par excellence and is the response to artistic requirements based on three main assumptions:
- Select the best possible wood from an aesthetic and acoustic point of view;
- Mount our custom built, handmade hardware made of a precious alloy like bronze;
- Create a standard product which combines our hardware with quality, commercially available hardware in an aesthetically pleasing way. The aim is to obtain an initial product at a price that is advantageous to the public. We then make infinite customization possibilities available to our more demanding customers.
The result? The very best in aesthetics and acoustics: elegantly designed segmented shells made of solid wood with premium hardware.
American walnut
American walnut differs from the Italian variety because it is darker and tends to have a coarser grain. Light brings out a wonderful array of iridescent colors in the wood that range from dark to light.
